Life-Saving Sites: Overdose Prevention for East London
I want Tower Hamlets and Hackney councils, working with central government (or without its hinderances), community organisations and service providers, to establish community-led overdose prevention sites within the next 12 months, with the model expanded to other London boroughs with high rates of fatal and non-fatal overdose. People are dying from preventable overdoses, including street-based people and others who are not in contact with established drug treatment services, such as some migrant and minority communities. There is substantial evidence supporting overdose prevention sites, but implementation faces government opposition, mixed support from councils and ambivalence within some local communities. — The London Boroughs of Tower Hamlets and Hackney, with expansion to other London boroughs experiencing high rates of overdose.
